Anthony M. Shanil Fernando has been successfully re-elected as the Chairman of ICC Sri Lanka during its 57th Annual General Meeting. With over 70 years of presence in Sri Lanka and 57 years since its incorporation, ICC Sri Lanka has played a pivotal role in supporting the country’s business community. Under Chairman Shanil Fernando’s leadership, ICC Sri Lanka has demonstrated resilience and achieved positive recovery post-pandemic and economic challenges. Shanil Fernando, a legal professional and Director of several prominent companies, brings his expertise to guide the ICC Sri Lanka.

The International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL) is the domestic chapter of the global ICC based in Paris, representing businesses worldwide. ICC Paris, with over 105 years of history and 45 million corporate members in 170 countries, focuses on trade facilitation, investment, export-import, and cross-border issues. ICC Sri Lanka, as part of this influential network, provides valuable services such as arbitration, dispute resolution, policy advocacy, and development of international trade rules.

Shanil Fernando’s re-election reflects confidence in his leadership, emphasizing continuity and stability for ICC Sri Lanka. The Board of Directors for 2024, representing leading companies and banks, will work alongside Shanil Fernando. Notably, the addition of new sub-committees for the Digital Economy, Marketing and Advertising, Environment and Energy, and Taxation highlights ICC Sri Lanka’s commitment to addressing contemporary business challenges.

ICC Arbitration, a trusted method for resolving international commercial disputes, will be enhanced in Sri Lanka with the establishment of the proposed Colombo International Arbitration Facilitation Centre. This reinforces ICC Sri Lanka’s dedication to providing effective means for businesses to resolve disputes, contributing to international trade and investment stability.

The re-election of Anthony M. Shanil Fernando reaffirms ICC Sri Lanka’s commitment to fostering economic growth, promoting international trade, and providing reliable services for businesses in a fair and efficient manner.
