India’s automotive components industry is poised for a new phase of growth following the implementation of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between India and the United Kingdom, creating fresh opportunities for manufacturers, exporters and global supply chains.
The landmark agreement is expected to provide improved market access for Indian automotive component manufacturers by reducing or eliminating tariffs on a wide range of products exported to the UK. Industry leaders believe the development will strengthen India’s position as a competitive global manufacturing hub while encouraging greater investment, innovation and technology collaboration.
The automotive components sector, which has steadily expanded its international footprint over the past decade, is expected to benefit from stronger demand from British vehicle manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers. Improved access to the UK market is also likely to encourage Indian companies to diversify exports, attract new investments and deepen long term partnerships with international customers.
According to a report by Vikrampati Singhania of Business Line, India, Shradha Suri Marwah, President of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) and Chairperson and Managing Director of Subros Ltd, said the agreement would provide a substantial boost to India’s auto components industry. She noted that reduced trade barriers would enhance the global competitiveness of Indian manufacturers while creating new opportunities for exports, investment and collaboration across the automotive value chain.
The agreement is also expected to support the broader transformation of India’s automotive industry, particularly as manufacturers invest in electric mobility, advanced engineering and sustainable production. Analysts believe the enhanced trade relationship will encourage companies to increase production capacity, improve technological capabilities and strengthen integration into global supply chains.
As demand for high quality automotive components continues to rise worldwide, the India UK trade partnership is expected to reinforce India’s reputation as a reliable manufacturing destination while strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and long term industrial growth.
