Worldlink Shipping Colombo Managing Director Vera Wickramasinghe has been elected President of the Freight Forwarder Network (FFN), Netherlands, at the Network’s Annual General Meeting held in Barcelona, Spain, achieving a historic milestone for both Sri Lanka and the global logistics industry.
Having previously served on the FFN Board of Directors, Wickramasinghe was elected to the presidency this year, becoming the Network’s first female President and its first President from outside Europe and the United States. Her appointment ends a long standing tradition of leadership drawn exclusively from those regions.
A highly respected figure in international shipping and logistics, Wickramasinghe brings decades of experience, strategic insight and industry leadership to the role. Founded in 2011, the Freight Forwarder Network connects trusted logistics companies across 48 countries, promoting collaboration, financial transparency and professional excellence throughout the global freight forwarding community.
As President, Wickramasinghe will work closely with members worldwide to strengthen international partnerships, encourage industry best practices and support the Network’s continued global expansion.
Her appointment follows another notable achievement for Sri Lanka, when Colombo hosted the 15th FFN Annual General Meeting at ITC Ratnadipa, welcoming logistics and supply chain professionals from around the world and reinforcing the country’s growing reputation as a regional logistics hub.
As Founder and Owner of Worldlink Shipping Colombo, Wickramasinghe has played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s international presence and strengthening Sri Lanka’s standing in global logistics. Her entrepreneurial leadership was recognised with the WCIC Prathibhabhisheka Women Entrepreneur Award 2025, presented by the Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Her election reflects the growing international recognition of Sri Lankan professionals and marks another proud chapter for the country’s logistics and freight forwarding sector.
