The Bank of Ceylon (BOC) has reinforced its leadership in digital banking with the launch of BOC Flex Tap and Pay, Sri Lanka’s first mobile banking wallet based contactless payment solution. Unveiled on 9 July 2026, the innovation enables customers to make secure, seamless, and convenient contactless payments directly through the BOC Flex mobile banking application using NFC enabled smartphones.
The launch ceremony was attended by the Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance, the Minister of Digital Economy, representatives of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Mastercard, together with BOC Chairman Kavinda de Zoysa, General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Y. A. Jayathilaka, members of the Board of Directors, and the bank’s Corporate and Executive Management, highlighting the national importance of the initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Kavinda de Zoysa said the launch reflects BOC’s strategic vision of building a digitally empowered, customer friendly and financially inclusive economy. He noted that, as Sri Lanka’s leading bank, BOC has a responsibility to lead the country’s digital transformation by delivering fast, secure, convenient and globally benchmarked financial solutions while supporting the Government’s Digital Economy agenda.
General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Y. A. Jayathilaka said the introduction of BOC Flex Tap and Pay represents another milestone in Sri Lanka’s banking industry, offering customers a simpler, safer and more convenient digital banking experience while supporting the country’s transition towards a modern cash lite economy.
The new digital wallet allows customers to transfer funds, pay bills, manage virtual cards, make online purchases, and complete contactless payments. The launch further strengthens BOC’s reputation for innovation, following the international recognition received by BOC Flex at the Digital CX Awards 2026 in Singapore.
