The Association of Human Resource Professionals (AHRP) is celebrating 25 years of advancing the human resource profession in Sri Lanka, marking a significant milestone in its contribution to developing modern workplaces and strengthening organisational leadership across the country.
Founded in 2000, AHRP has played a leading role in elevating human resources from a traditional administrative function to a strategic business partner, helping organisations embrace people centred leadership, talent development, and workplace innovation. Under the leadership of President Thushara Jayawardana, the association continues to champion professional excellence, ethical leadership, and global best practices within Sri Lanka’s HR community.
As part of its 25 year celebrations, AHRP is pursuing several strategic initiatives, including the introduction of internationally benchmarked HR capability standards, enhanced professional certification programmes, stronger international collaboration, and initiatives to address national talent shortages. The association also aims to further strengthen its partnerships with global HR institutions while supporting organisations in building resilient, future ready workplaces.
The anniversary reflects AHRP’s enduring commitment to empowering HR professionals and positioning human capital as a critical driver of sustainable business growth, organisational transformation, and Sri Lanka’s long term economic development.
