CIPM Leads National Dialogue on Addressing Sri Lanka’s Talent and Skills Gap

Published on

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (CIPM) recently convened an industry dialogue to examine the growing challenges of talent shortages and skilled workforce gaps, bringing together HR professionals, academics, policymakers, and business leaders to explore strategies for building a future ready workforce in Sri Lanka.

The event focused on the implications of labour market shifts, evolving industry requirements, leadership capability development, and workforce sustainability. Distinguished speakers including Dr. Heather Fernando, Dr. Neil Bogahalanda, Dr. Samantha Rathnayake, Dr. Samitha Perera, and Manuja led discussions on strengthening talent pipelines, improving employee retention, enhancing workforce resilience, and aligning education with industry needs.

CIPM President Priyantha Ranasinghe has consistently emphasised the importance of developing agile, future focused human capital to support Sri Lanka’s long term economic competitiveness. The dialogue underscored that collaboration among employers, educational institutions, professional bodies, and government agencies is essential to closing critical skills gaps and preparing organisations for the future of work.

The initiative reflects CIPM’s continued commitment to advancing human resource excellence, strengthening leadership capability, and supporting sustainable organisational growth through strategic workforce development and people centric policies.
