EY Sri Lanka has announced the admission of Sampath Jayawardena to the partnership, recognising his outstanding professional contributions to the firm and the wider accounting and sustainability profession.
Jayawardena joined EY Sri Lanka on 22 December 2005 and has been a key member of the organisation for more than two decades. Most recently serving as Senior Director, he has built extensive expertise across Climate Change and Sustainability Services, Assurance, and Strategy and Transactions. His leadership and technical knowledge have played an important role in supporting EY Sri Lanka’s growth and strengthening its capabilities in these increasingly critical areas.
Throughout his career, Jayawardena has advised a diverse portfolio of leading banks, financial institutions, insurance companies, conglomerates and manufacturing organisations. He has also been instrumental in managing key overseas engagements while maintaining strong relationships with regulators on climate change and sustainability matters.
Beyond client engagements, Jayawardena has made significant contributions to the advancement of sustainability reporting and disclosure standards at global, regional and national levels. He serves on EY’s Global Subject Matter Group on IFRS S1 and S2, the Asia-Pacific Subject Matter Group on ISSB Standards, and the Sustainability Disclosure Standards Committee of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, supporting the adoption of IFRS S1, IFRS S2 and ISSA 5000.
He holds an MBA from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and an MSc in Climate Change and Environmental Management from the University of Colombo. He is also an Associate Member of CA Sri Lanka, ACCA, CIMA and CMA Sri Lanka, as well as a CGMA.
His appointment reflects EY Sri Lanka’s continued commitment to strengthening leadership in sustainability, climate reporting and professional excellence while supporting businesses in navigating evolving environmental, social and governance expectations.
